For the configuration of an e-commerce center, the number of workers must be adjusted to the time needed for a single work step and to the average number of incoming orders. The employees in different parts of the center shall, if possible, be well and fully occupied, but the length of the queue at every processing station must be limited.
The simplified model above allows for adjusting the mean number of orders, which is interpreted as mean average value of an exponential distribution. Also, the time needed for different order processing steps and the number of workers at each processing position can be adjusted. With three curve windows, you can see the behavior of the queues in front of the processing stations. If necessary, the number of workers must be changed. The queues should neither be empty nor continuously increase.
